Planting 77,000 Denaei thyme seedlings in Shabestar city
The director of Jihad Keshavarzi of Shabestar city announced the planting of 77,000 thyme seedlings in 1.2 hectares of lands of this Shabestar city.
Tawhidi, director of Jihad Keshavarzi in Shabestar city, said: Thyme thyme is a cold-resistant species and 60,000 seedlings per hectare have been planted in Daryan city and 17,000 seedlings per 0.2 hectare in Sefid Kemar village of this city.
He stated that thyme is traditionally used as anti-flatulence, anti-spasm, anti-cough and expectorant in Iran and is one of the ten famous essential oils that have antibacterial, anti-fungal properties and have a special place in world trade. He said: the credit of this project has been spent from the credits of reviving Lake Urmia.
Emphasizing the importance and position of medicinal plants in programs to change the cultivation pattern, he pointed to the resistance and adaptation of these plants to unfavorable conditions and water shortage and added: the climatic conditions of Shabestar city are suitable for the development of planting medicinal plants.
Tawhidi added: Development and cultivation of medicinal plants is one of the priority programs of the Ministry of Jihad for Agriculture and good measures have been taken in this field in Shabestar city.
