Predict a 2-fold increase in walnut production in Paveh
The deputy of Jihad Keshavarzi of Paveh city predicted: this year we will see a doubling of walnut production in this city.
Ali Ghaderi announced the area of walnut orchards in Paveh city as 1410 hectares and added: 1250 hectares of walnut orchards in this city are fertile and another 160 hectares are seedlings and have not yet reached the fertile stage.
Ghaderi stated that the average yield of walnuts in the orchards of this city is 1.2 tons per hectare.
Referring to the production of 812 tons of walnuts in Paveh city last year, the deputy of Jihad Keshavarzi of Paveh city predicted: this year we will see a doubling of walnut production in this city and the total production of walnuts in this city will reach 1500 tons.
Ghaderi added: Last year, due to the damage caused by late spring frosts, we saw a decrease in walnut production in Paveh city, but this year, due to favorable weather conditions and the lack of dust, we see an increase in walnut production in this city.
Ghaderi also assessed the observance of horticultural principles as effective in increasing the amount of production this year.
Referring to the beginning of walnut harvest in tropical areas and early trees of Paveh city from early September, he said: Walnut harvest in colder regions and in late varieties of walnuts in this city will continue until early October.
Ghaderi, referring to the non-use of any pesticides and fertilizers in the gardens of Paveh city, considered the walnuts produced in this city as healthy products.
The deputy of Jihad Keshavarzi of Paveh city mentioned the consumption market of walnuts produced in Paveh city as Kermanshah province and other provinces of the country.
Ghaderi stated: This year, we plan to rehabilitate and improve the gardens and equip them with new irrigation systems.
