Predicting a significant increase in Gilan caviar exports

The director general of fisheries of Gilan province announced the export of 400 kg of caviar last year and said: This year, we plan to increase the export of sturgeon in Gilan province to one ton with the necessary coordination.

Samad Darvishi informed about the four axes of aquaculture activities and said: in the field of aquaculture, there are more than 63 thousand tons of aquaculture products, including hot-water fish, cold-water fish and sturgeon.

Referring to the annual production and release of 150 million pieces of fish in the Caspian Basin, he added: If we compare this number with the average of the northern provinces, it is almost 45% of the total obligations of the north of the country in Gilan province.

Dervishi continued by stating that approximately 600 tons of bony fish are caught annually: There are 50 cooperatives operating in the province.

He pointed out that 30 vessels catch kilka, noting that fishermen catch about 6,000 tons of kilka annually.

The Director General of Fisheries of Gilan Province further mentioned the Aquatic Conservation Unit as one of the other areas of activity and added: 11 bases carry out monitoring work in the fishing season and are responsible for managing illegal fishing.

Regarding sturgeon, he said: There are about 116 sturgeon farms throughout the country, of which 46 farms are in Gilan.
