Prediction of 1100 tons of sesame harvest in Hajiabad, Hormozgan
The director of Jihad Keshavarzi of Hajiabad city announced the end of sesame cultivation in this city.
Nazem Abbaszadeh announced the news: Last year, 532 hectares of the city’s lands were dedicated to sesame cultivation, which after harvesting 638 tons of sesame products with an average yield, 1.2 tons per hectare was earned by farmers.
Referring to the amount of sesame cultivation in the current year, he added: 850 hectares of Hajiabad lands have been allocated to sesame cultivation this year, which is expected to exceed 1100 tons of sesame with a yield of 1.3 tons per hectare Be harvested.
Abbaszadeh mentioned the sesame crop as a suitable alternative to corn and noted: Sesame cultivation has the advantage of cultivation due to its drought resistance and also rotation with other crops. Hajiabad city is one of the important sesame production points in Hormozgan and rural areas. Obviously, Tarom, Ahmadi and Daragah are among the important cultivation areas of this crop.
He informed about the distribution of certified seeds for the cultivation of this crop and added: more than 2600 kg of seeds with a price of 2240 Tomans along with chemical fertilizer for sesame cultivation have been distributed among farmers.
At the end, the director of Jihad-e-Keshavarzi of Hajiabad city considered the cultivation season of this crop as the second half of June to the end of July and said: sesame harvest will start from the beginning of October and will continue until the end of December.
