Safaei, director of Sarayan Agricultural Jihad, stated that this city is the second largest province in the province in terms of saffron production and the best saffron in terms of quality based on the tests performed, said: Sarayan saffron is unique in terms of quality in the province and abroad.

He pointed out that 12 tons of dry saffron will be harvested in Sarayan this year, adding: We are pursuing the launch of 2 saffron packaging units in Sarayan, where the applicant of this unit is waiting to receive facilities and one of these units is in operation.

Safaei announced the construction of a factory for the production of juice products based on saffron and said: This year, saffron has been harvested in 300 hectares of farms in mountainous villages and 2,800 hectares of cultivated lands in Sarayan.

The director of Sarayan Agricultural Jihad, pointing out that 6,000 farmers are employed in saffron, said: Considering the 10% increase in the area under cultivation of this product, it is predicted that we will see an increase in production in the city in the coming years.

He specified: in South Khorasan, 15 thousand and 780 hectares are under saffron cultivation, of which 3 thousand hectares are in Sarayan city, and from the beginning of November, saffron harvest begins in this city and continues for a month.

Safaei pointed to the importance of employment in the saffron harvest season in Sarayan and continued: Every year in this season, more than 3,000 seasonal employment days are created, which has a great impact on the employment of the province.
