The director of Mahshahr Agricultural Jihad said: We anticipate that 1500 tons of dates will be harvested from the groves of this city.

Hassan Nisi stated: the area of ​​groves in the city reaches more than one thousand and 600 hectares, of which 1000 hectares are productive and can be harvested.

He added: The major part of the city’s date crop is of the colonial type, and almost all of these dates are exported to European countries.

This year’s date production is about the same as last year and has not changed much, Nice said. Last year, 1,400 tons of dates were produced.

The director of Mahshahr Agricultural Jihad stated: In addition to the colonial cultivar, other cultivars of dates including lamb, ascetic and gentar are harvested in Mahshahr. The price of dates has not been determined yet and now dates are purchased through palm shops at a discounted price.

He added: the city’s dates are of good quality and it is predicted that the date harvest will continue for the next month.

Referring to the cultivation of 560 hectares of summer crops, Nisi noted: This crop includes sorghum, alfalfa, watermelon, melon, sesame, mung bean and corn. The water of these lands is supplied through the surgical river and there is no problem in supplying water to these lands.
