Prediction of harvesting 600 tons of Damask rose petals in Khomein
The head of Jihad-e-Keshavarzi Khomeini said: This year, the area under cultivation of Damask rose in the city is estimated at 217 hectares and it is expected that 600 tons of flower petals will be produced in this city this year.
Abbas Arshadi stated: out of this 217 hectares, 172 hectares are fertile and 45 hectares are infertile and new.
He said that Khomeini is the second largest cultivator of Damask rose in the province, adding: Harvesting of Damask rose this year has started in Khomein since the end of the first decade of June and will continue for a month.
The head of Jihad-e-Keshavarzi of Khomein city stated: The production of fresh petals in this city is predicted to be about 600 tons, and considering that there is no industrial processing center in Khomein, these petals are sent to Kashan for processing.
Arshadi said: Of course, there are some traditional processing units in this city, but they have not yet received the activity license, because they have to observe a number of health requirements, including the ceramic floor and ceiling of the center, that the health department agrees with their activity license. These traditional units are used as home jobs in Khomeini’s Jihad-e-Keshavarzi work plan.
He added: One of the residents of Khomein is currently looking to set up an industrial rose-making center in this city, but at the moment he is facing problems, including receiving facilities, and we are pursuing the solution of these problems.
