Prediction of harvesting 7000 tons of dates from Ahwaz palms

The director of Ahwaz Agricultural Jihad said: 7488 tons of dates are expected to be harvested from the city’s date palms this year.

Abdolreza Nisi stated: The area under cultivation of fertile date palms in Ahvaz is 600 hectares, from which cultivars such as Colon, Barhi, Barim and Zahedi are harvested.

He added: 23.4 tons of dates and 15.6 tons of dates can be produced and supplied in domestic and foreign markets per hectare. 120 hectares of these areas are dedicated to harvesting rotb and the rest to harvesting dates.

Nisi added: This yield has been achieved despite numerous problems such as drought, reduced river discharge, dust problems and the prevalence of palm leaf drying disease in the grove.
