Preserving the Iranian caviar market is essential

A faculty member of the Fisheries Research Institute said that according to estimates, in 2030 we will have about 95 million tons of aquatic shortages in the world, said: According to the future perspective of aquatic production by 2030, the share of developed and developing countries in aquatic production It is fixed, but the development of aquaculture in developing countries will grow well, while the development of aquaculture in developed countries will not grow much.

Dr. Hassan Salehi in the market and marketing conference on new opportunities for the development of fishery products said: According to statistics announced in 2006, the value of fishery products in the world is $ 90 billion and aquaculture products $ 70 billion, while the processing of raw fishery products $ 60 billion will increase its value, and secondary processing will double its value.

He estimated the share of distribution of aquatic products at $ 80 billion and added: Selling raw materials is not profitable in the development of fishery products.

Referring to the 50 percent drop in the price of salmon in the European market between 1990 and 2005, Salehi said: This is a wake-up call for some of the country’s products, including salmon.

Referring to the outlook for world trade by 2030, the faculty member of the Fisheries Research Institute said: According to estimates, by 2030 there is a demand of 245 million tons of aquatic animals in the world, which according to the production plan in 2030 is about 95 million tons shortage. We will have aquatic animals in the world.

He added: Developing countries supply their aquatic products in raw form, the profit of which goes to the developed countries.

Pointing out that developed countries such as the United States, Japan and the European Union are importers of aquatic products, especially shrimp, Salehi said: Currently, Arab countries are in the process of processing and packaging their products and exporting them to European countries, but in our country to This issue has not been considered.

Referring to the expansion of tourism in Arab countries, he said: These countries can be a good target market for Iran due to the growing demand for imports of crustaceans, especially shrimp. Also, the import of aquatic products to China is currently increasing, which is a potential market for the export of Iranian fishery products.

The faculty member of the Fisheries Research Institute, referring to the decrease in shrimp and caviar exports in Iran, noted: This is while the export of other fish, especially hydrothermal fish, is expanding day by day and can replace the vacuum of shrimp and caviar in the market; Of course, due to the fact that the Iranian caviar brand has a high value in the world, it is necessary to maintain the Iranian caviar market, even with farmed caviar.
