The head of Shadegan Agricultural Jihad said: Our forecast is that this year the production of dates, including rotab, khark and dates, will reach 61,000 tons.

Hamid Matroudi stated: The harvest of Khark and Rotab has started from August of this year, so far the harvest has reached 1800 tons.

He added: Our forecast is to produce 5,000 tons of rotab and khark, which is 10% of the total production of our grove. Harvesting of dates will start on September 11 and it is expected that 55,000 tons of dates will be produced.

Currently, about 35,000 tons of dates, mostly including colonial cultivars, have been purchased by date packing workshops and the Rural Cooperative Organization at an approved rate, he said.

Dates are exported to different countries, he said.
