The director of agriculture affairs of Semnan Jihad-e-Agriculture Organization announced the estimated production of about 7,000 tons of onions under suitable conditions in the province this year.
Seyyed Amir Razavi said: This year, onions seeds have been planted in 254 hectares of lands in the province, which is expected to harvest an average of 27 tons per hectare.
He added: the cultivation of onions seeds in the province started in late March and ended in April, and the harvesting operation will begin in October.
The director of agriculture affairs of Jihad Agricultural Organization of Semnan province stated that the majority of onions cultivated in the province is Azeri red and added: Shahroud city with 150 hectares under onions cultivation has the highest area, in Damghan city 80 hectares and the rest cultivation in It is located in Semnan and Sorkheh.
Razavi said: Proper nutrition, proper management of farms, principled and timely control of pests and diseases are effective factors in increasing the quantity and quality of the product and for proper nutrition of this product this year, 300 kg of fertilizer per hectare of onions cultivation has been allocated. .
He added: Stability and market regulation of this product in the country, stability of input prices, creating suitable facilities for supplying the product in excess of the country’s needs in neighboring countries can be effective in supporting onions producers.
