Production of 10 thousand tons of walnuts in Lorestan province
Horticulture director of Lorestan Agricultural Organization announced this news: the area of walnut orchards in Lorestan is 16 thousand and 500 hectares.
Behrouz Baharvand, stating that it is expected that 10,000 tons of walnuts will be harvested in the province this year, added: A large area of walnut trees in the province are seedlings and will be fertile in a few years.
He stated that the number of walnut growers in the province is 5,000 and said: According to the policies of the organization, walnuts will not be distributed in Lorestan this year.
Baharvand continued: Considering that grafted walnut seedlings will be exploited 3 to 4 years earlier, next year the grafted seedlings will be distributed as subsidies among Lorestani gardeners.
Horticulture director of Lorestan Agricultural Jihad Organization stated: Lorestan walnuts produced are exported to other provinces of the country and in green.
The area of fruitful gardens in Lorestan is currently 50,000 hectares.
