Production of 1400 kg of saffron in Lorestan
The head of the Lorestan Agricultural Jihad Organization said: We have 420 hectares under saffron cultivation in the province, from which up to 1400 kg are harvested annually.
Esfandiar Hassani-Moghaddam, referring to the diversity of agricultural products in Lorestan, said: We have between 800 and 1000 hectares of apricot orchards in Maruk Doroud region with significant yield and harvest.
He said: In the province, we have 11,000 hectares under walnut cultivation with a harvest of over 20,000 tons, in which we are ranked third in the country.
Pointing out that our fig production with an average production of 18 tons per hectare is about 30,000 tons, Hassani added: We need 57,000 tons of pomegranates, 67,000 tons of apples and other products with an annual production of conversion, complementary, processing and packaging industries Have.
The head of the Lorestan Agricultural Jihad Organization added: We are ready to grant a license to the private sector interested in working in this field.
He pointed out that the capacity of the province’s cold storages is about 20,000 tons, which is a low number.
Hosni Moghaddam added: We currently have a storage capacity of about one million tons with a production capacity of 500,000 tons of grain, and part of the country’s livestock capacity is stored in the province.
The head of the Lorestan Agricultural Jihad Organization, pointing out that we did not have a share in the production of saffron in the country until 10 years ago, said: Up to 1400 kg of saffron is harvested from this level annually.
He emphasized: so far, there are several brands in the field of saffron production, but we still need to strengthen this part of agriculture.
Hosni Moghaddam added: We have good products in the field of beans, but the problem is that most products are packaged in bulk and taken out of the province.
The head of the Lorestan Agricultural Jihad Organization stated: Before the revolution and even in the 1970s, we did not have more than three or four types of wheat, but in the last twenty years, we have 24 wheat cultivars for tropical and cold regions, irrigated and rainfed lands, and one wheat cultivar for each region.
