Production of 14000 tons of walnuts in Lorestan
Horticulture director of Lorestan Jihad Agricultural Organization said: 14,000 tons of walnuts have been produced in the province this year.
Engineer Baharvand added: Walnut harvest from Lorestan orchards has ended and this year 14,000 tons of walnuts have been produced in the province.
Referring to the fact that 11,000 tons of walnuts were produced in the province last year, he said: Lorestan ranks third in the country in terms of the area under walnut orchards, after Kerman and Hamedan provinces.
The official added: Boroujerd, Khorramabad and Aleshtar counties are the main walnut harvesting centers in Lorestan.
Engineer Baharvand continued: Due to the young walnut orchards of the province, Lorestan ranks fifth in the country in terms of walnut production.
He lamented the lack of horticultural processing industries in Lorestan, noting: Unfortunately, most of the walnuts of Boroujerd and Aleshtar enter Kurdistan and are exported to Iraq under the brand of this province.
