Production of 47,000 tons of white rice in Fooman
The director of Fooman Agricultural Jihad announced the clustering of 90% of the paddy fields in the city.
Mohammad Reza Ebrahimzadeh said: Fooman city has 13,780 hectares of paddy lands and so far clustering has been reported in 90% of these paddy fields.
He added: It is expected that more than 47,000 tons of white rice will be produced in Fooman this year.
Ebrahimzadeh, stating that this year the rice harvest will be done one week earlier than last year, continued: the reason for this is the earlier rice transplanting than last year.
He pointed out that most of the cultivars cultivated this year in Fooman are Hashemi and Ali Kazemi cultivars, and added: This year, we plan to increase ratoon cultivation compared to last year.
Ebrahimzadeh, stating that ratoon, which is also called shabj in the local language, is a tastier and less expensive rice than the original rice, added: Last year, it was grown in 5,000 hectares of Fooman ratoon paddy fields.
He went on to say that mechanized rice harvesting reduces the costs of rice production and said: This year, mechanized harvesting will be mechanized in 2,500 hectares of Fooman rice fields.
Ebrahimzadeh said: Currently, more than 100 harvesters in Fooman are ready to provide services to farmers.
He went on to say that preventing the burning of straw is one of the goals of Fooman agriculture, he said: to achieve this, various measures have been taken, including informing farmers and installing banners in cities and villages.
Ebrahimzadeh clarified: the culture building and strong levers of the judiciary can prevent the occasional burning of straw that is done.
