Production of 730 thousand tons of white rice in Gilan

The head of Gilan Jihad-e-Agriculture Organization said: the rice harvest in Gilan has ended and it is predicted that 730,000 tons of white rice will be produced in the province.

Alireza Shabannejad, stating that Gilan has 238,000 hectares of paddy lands, said: Rice harvest in Gilan has been completed and one million and one hundred thousand tons of paddy has been produced in the province.

He added: Most cultivated cultivars are Hashemi cultivars, which are very high quality and a total of 730,000 tons of white rice will be produced in Gilan after processing.

Regarding replanting rice in Gilan, Shabannejad continued: Re-transplanting sometimes does not give good results, and for this reason, rice replanting has been done on a case-by-case basis this year.

The head of Gilan Jihad-e-Agriculture Organization informed about raton breeding in Gilan paddy fields and said: considering the good rainfall that took place, ratoon breeding is expected to be done in a suitable level.

He pointed out: Cultivation of different crops in Gilan paddy fields as the second crop will increase farmers’ incomes and it is expected to do the second crop in 90,000 hectares of Gilan paddy fields this year, and now the second crop has started in some of these lands.

Alireza Shabannejad described the price of white rice in the market as appropriate and said: If the price of rice decreases, agreed purchases will be made from farmers.
