The head of Gilan Agricultural Jihad Organization said: The efforts of farmers and suitable weather conditions caused the production of more than 750 thousand tons of white rice in Gilan.

Alireza Shabannejad announced the end of rice harvest in the paddy fields of Gilan and said: Gilan has 238,000 hectares of paddy lands that only in some cases, farmers may be harvesting rice.
He pointed out: Normally, one million and 100 thousand tons of paddy was harvested in Gilan and 730 thousand tons of white rice is produced from these paddy fields, while this year we are witnessing the production of one million and two hundred thousand tons of paddy and more than this paddy 750,000 tons of white rice is obtained.

Shabannejad continued: suitable weather conditions caused us to see an improvement in the quality of rice.

The head of the Gilan Agricultural Jihad Organization said: This year, the purchase price of rice from farmers is more appropriate than in previous years, and for the first local rice market in the country, it is now open in Rasht.

He pointed out that ratoon rice is of better quality and lower cost than the original rice, noting: Due to the continuation of good weather in the province, this year we will see an increase in ratoon breeding in Gilan.

He added: In addition to good rice production, it is necessary to take effective measures in the proper distribution and consumption of Gilan rice so that with proper distribution of this product and creating substrates such as shaped rice bag packages, the province can benefit more from the production of this product.
