Walnuts are rich in monounsaturated fatty acids (about 72%) such as oleic acid and are an excellent source of all omega-3 essential fatty acids such as linoleic acid, alpha and alpha and arachidonic acids. Regular consumption of walnuts in the diet helps to lower total cholesterol as well as bad cholesterol (LDL) and increase good cholesterol (HDL) in the blood.

Consumption of about 25 grams of walnuts per day provides 90% of omega-3 essential fatty acids (recommended daily intake). Walnuts are a very strong source of minerals such as manganese, copper, potassium, calcium, iron, magnesium, zinc and selenium.

Eat a handful of walnuts daily to get enough minerals, vitamins and protein a day.
