The head of the Isfahan Handmade Carpet Sellers Union said: In the past year, Isfahan handmade carpets have not been bought or even exported, because the prices of raw materials and wages have increased.

Mahmoud Daei added: 80% of handmade cotton carpets are produced for export and 20% of it is produced for domestic consumption, but unfortunately, domestic sales are in a very bad situation.

The head of the Isfahan Hand-Made Carpet Sellers’ Union said that the situation of carpet exports is worse than sales, noting that for about two years now, export carpets have remained in the hands of sellers and exporters, and all of them have been caught in the banks.

Daei stated that the government does not provide any assistance to the sellers and exporters of handmade carpets, adding that if the government provides facilities to the sellers and exporters of handmade carpets, some of their problems will be solved.

He added: The government gives facilities to producers such as loans of 4%, but there are no facilities for sellers and they are forced to take loans with interest rates of 26% of banks.

The head of the Isfahan Handmade Carpet Sellers Association said that in previous years, the sale and export of Iranian handmade carpets was ranked first, adding: Currently, Indian and Pakistani carpets are more welcomed and Iran’s ranking has reached 24.

He added: The designs of Iranian carpet weavers have been repeated, but in countries such as India and Pakistan, progress has been made in this field, and carpets are woven with new designs and designs.

Saying that there is negative propaganda against Iranian carpets, Daei pointed out: Most of the carpets produced in Iran should be exported, but unfortunately this has not been realized for several years and has faced a recession.

Referring to the change in the price of carpets and handmade carpets, he noted: the price of fluffy and silk carpets has not increased and now each meter of this carpet is priced at about 2.5 million tomans and Kashani, Naini and Ardakani carpets have increased in price by one to two percent.

The head of the Isfahan Handmade Carpet Sellers Union pointed out: In the carpet exhibition that was held in Isfahan in the past few months, only the shipping costs were borne by the sellers and no sales were made.
