Red grape juice prevents hardening of the arteries
French scientists have found that red grape juice and apple juice can prevent hardening of the arteries and the deposition of fatty plaques in the arteries.
According to the results of this study, consumption of fruit or juice reduces cholesterol levels, redox pressure and fat accumulation in the aorta and other major arteries of the body.
High levels of antioxidants in fruit juice have anti-atherosclerotic effects in the arteries, said scientists at the University of Montpellier. Phenols, vitamin C and carotenoids are important antioxidants found in fruits.
Findings from the study indicate that the amount of phenol in apples and grapes is similar, but red grape juice contains up to 2.5 times more phenol than apple juice.
Based on research findings, scientists conclude that the amount of phenol in various foods has a direct effect on their antioxidant properties.
