Reducing the yield of Lorestan walnut orchards by producing 5000 tons
The director of Khorramabad Agricultural Jihad announced the production of 5,000 tons of walnuts in this city.
Morad Biranvand, referring to the end of walnut harvest in the orchards of this city, stated: The area under cultivation of walnut orchards is more than 3150 hectares, of which about 2800 hectares are fertile.
He continued: The harvesting operation started in early October and ended a few days ago and we had a production of 5,000 tons.
Biranvand reminded: Most of the big walnut orchards in Khorramabad city are located in Zagheh, Biranshahr, Sepiddasht, Azna Sekund, etc.
The director of Khorramabad Agricultural Jihad pointed out: This year, the average harvest of walnuts per hectare was about two tons, while each hectare of walnuts should produce about four tons.
Sunburn, spring hail and a disease have reduced performance, he said.
Biranvand stated: In walnut orchards, we have put the plan of improving and reviving the orchards on the agenda, especially by carrying out branch transplant operations.
