Reduction of 600 tons of walnut production in Lorestan
Horticulture director of Lorestan Agricultural Jihad Organization said: 12,000 tons of walnuts will be produced in the province this year.
Behrouz Baharvand added: We have 17,000 hectares of walnut orchards in the province, of which approximately 6,651 hectares are fertile.
He stated: Last year, 11 thousand and 831 tons of walnuts were harvested in the province, and it is expected that 12 thousand tons of this crop will be harvested this year.
The director of horticulture of Lorestan Jihad-e-Agriculture Organization said: Last year, due to drought and dust, we witnessed damage to 2,812 tons of walnuts in the province, and this year we will reduce production by 600 tons.
Baharvand pointed out that walnut harvesting is usually done traditionally, and reminded that farmers have difficulty harvesting walnuts with a base of more than 15 meters.
