Reduction of grape production in Zanjan

The director of horticulture of Zanjan Jihad-e-Agriculture Organization said:
this year, it was predicted that about 230,000 tons of grapes would be harvested in the province, but unfortunately,
due to frost and the disappearance of its problems, about 180,000 tons were harvested.

Saeed Adib said: With the sanctions imposed, it is hardly possible to export raisins in the name of Iran.

Despite inflation in the agricultural sector, the price of grapes has not changed from last year and has decreased in some cases,
which is to the detriment of growers, he said.

He reminded: the vineyards in the province are 13 thousand hectares.

Regarding the problems of vineyards, Adib said:
The hair pest is a threat that has targeted vineyards. Farmers have been taught how to fight it, which,
if left unchecked, could affect all of the province’s vineyards.

Zanjan province is the third hub of raisin production in the country, so that the vine growers of Abhari,
Khorramdareh and Saeen Qaleh turn a large amount of their grape crop into raisins every year.
