Reduction of women’s activity in rice planting in Guilan paddy fields

The director of mechanization development of Gilan Jihad Agricultural Organization said: the development of mechanized seedlings has reduced the activity of women transplanters in paddy fields at this stage of rice production.

Haidar Kamyab, stating that last year mechanized cultivation was done in 160,000 hectares of paddy fields in Gilan, said: Gilan has 238,000 hectares of paddy lands and it is predicted that mechanized rice cultivation will be done in 170,000 hectares of these lands this year.

He added: Currently, over 8,500 transplanters in the province are ready to enter the fields and will be used as soon as the planting time begins.

Kamyab continued by stating that the development of mechanization is being done on average in all cities: Rezvanshahr, Talesh and Soomehsara counties are doing rice transplantation mechanized more than other cities.

He specified: Rasht city is the largest rice-rich city in the country and currently the development of mechanization in this city is less than the provincial average, but compared to previous years, it has enjoyed good mechanization growth.

Kamyab said: Shaft city is also one of the cities of Gilan that in recent years we have witnessed the growth of mechanized seedlings in its paddy fields.

The director of mechanization development of Guilan Jihad Agricultural Organization pointed out: In addition to reducing the suffering of rice production, the development of mechanization reduces the costs of rice production and because rice is usually transplanted by women in paddy fields, which is a very difficult task. We will reduce the activity of transplanting women in the paddy fields of the province.

He added: The development of mechanization has made rural youth more willing to enter rice production, and recently some young people even rent paddy fields so that they can cultivate and produce rice in it.
