Rice drying in 2,000 hectares of Karun lands
The director of Jihad Keshavarzi of Karun city, emphasizing on rice cultivation by drought method, said: it is predicted that rice will be cultivated by drought method in 2,000 hectares of lands of Karun city this year.
Referring to the beginning of rice cultivation in Karun city, Jabbar Hamadi stated: with the decisions taken in supplying the water needed by farmers, rice cultivation operations are being carried out in Karun city.
Referring to the area under cultivation of this crop, he added: so far, rice cultivation has been done in 1,500 hectares of lands in this city and it is predicted that the area of Karun rice fields will reach 5,000 hectares.

Hamadi added: Saving water for rice cultivation, in addition to creating the ground for the possible expansion of the area under cultivation and increasing final production, prevents water access problems for other summer crops and land degradation in the form of rising water and wetland levels.
He said: With the recommendations given by agricultural experts to improve the cultivation method in the form of drought, some farmers have turned to rice cultivation with this method, which can lead to a 30% reduction in water consumption.
