Sale of Iranian caviar in Europe
A sturgeon farmer said: This year, Iranian caviar was sold for 1600 Euros (equivalent to 6.5 million Tomans) in world markets, which brought a good exchange rate for the country.
Mohammad Taghi Barkhordari, the first sturgeon farmer in the country, stated: In this production unit, this year, it has exported about 80 kg of caviar to European countries at a price of 1600 Euros per kilogram.
He said that caviar does not have many customers in Iran, but its export causes currency exchange, he said: fish farming in the desert of Iran leads to the optimal use of facilities. On the other hand, Iran’s ability to raise caviar is very high and we can conquer all global markets for this product.
The top entrepreneur in the agricultural sector, who is breeding this type of fish in Qom province, said: We were able to extract 24 kg of caviar in the first phase, and considering that there was no agreement at that time to export this product, we sold caviar in Iran until In 2005, caviar meat was exported to Dubai for the first time.
Barkhordari stated that in 2009 we lowered the world record of caviar breeding age and exported it, adding: In 2012, for the first time, we exported about 40 kg of Beluga caviar to Europe, and this year the volume of exports to this continent was 80 kg. .
He called one of the problems of caviar breeders a complicated administrative bureaucracy and asked the Ministry of Jihad for Agriculture to pay attention to the problems of the producers in this sector.
According to the ministry, it should form a working group to remove barriers for breeders and farmers in each province.
