Shadegan date production forecast is 40,000 tons

The director of Jihad Keshavarzi of Shadegan city, stating that the date harvest of this city will start in October, said: the production forecast for this year is 40 thousand tons of dates from one million and 700 thousand fertile palms. Last year, about 38,000 tons of dates were harvested from the city’s groves.
Seyed Adel Mavalizadeh stated: We had a problem of water shortage for production at the beginning of the year, but in the last two months, with the cooperation of the officials of the Water Organization, this problem was solved.
He evaluated the quality of the product better than last year and pointed out: the total area of Shadegan groves is 10 thousand hectares with a total of 2 million and 300 thousand palms, of which 600 thousand are infertile palms or seedlings and the product is 1 million and 700 thousand. The original palm is harvested.
The director of Shadegan Agricultural Jihad Office predicted an average harvest of 30 kg per palm and added: about 12 to 16 types of dates such as colonies, sugar and barium are produced in the city, which are sold to 36 date packing workshops in the city after harvest at an agreed price.
Mavalizadeh stated that the agreed price for the purchase of dates has not been determined yet, and specified: Our proposed price for each kilogram of dates is at least 500 Tomans.
He reminded: Last year, 38,000 tons of dates were harvested from the groves of the city and 410 Tomans per kilogram was purchased from the farmer at an agreed price.
The director of Shadegan Jihad-e-Agriculture stated that the product of 1.8 million palms in the city is covered by insurance, noting that the insurance premium received was 300 tomans per palm.
