Specialized exhibition of handmade carpets in Golestan
Hosseinghli Qavanloo, head of the National Carpet Center, said: The art of carpet industry is one of the main examples of resistance economics due to its introverted, extroverted, popular and knowledge-based characteristics.
He continued: Knowledge-oriented activities in this field will provide the ground for the prosperity of the art of carpet industry production. This sector can, in addition to economic effects, cause employment of people, especially women.
The head of the Golestan Industry, Mining and Trade Organization added: In Golestan, about 60,000 people are active in the field of handmade carpets, of which about 38,000 have been trained and have received carpet weaving cards.
He added that only 6,000 hand-woven carpet weavers in the province have been provided with social security insurance, adding: We hope the government will provide good credit for weavers’ insurance in next year’s annual budget and provide subsidies, albeit minimal.
Ali Mohammad Choupani, head of Gorgan Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture, referring to the 54% increase in handmade carpet production in the province, said: Since the beginning of this year, more than 82,000 square meters of handmade carpets have been produced in the province. And the province has received $ 300,000 in foreign exchange earnings.
Regarding the problems of hand-woven carpet weavers in the province, he said: We have about 250 cooperatives in the province, most of which are harmful, and a solution must be found to organize them.
Shepherding continued: The threefold increase in the price of raw materials for carpet weaving is another issue that the government can help producers by providing working capital in the form of low-cost facilities.
Zuleykha Adeli, an entrepreneurial woman and in charge of the province’s handmade carpet cluster, also pointed to the existing capacities in Golestan and offered to set up a carpet cafe and a carpet town in some areas of the province.
He also called on the authorities to set up a museum of handmade carpets in the cities of Bandar-e-Turkmen and Gonbad-e Kavous, given the origins of Turkmen carpets in parts of Golestan province.
In this ceremony, the selected individuals of the second Golden Knot Festival of Golestan Province were honored in the sections of Turkmen carpet weaving, carpet weaving, Persian weaving, design, restoration and dyeing.
