Spring rice transplanting started in Gonbad Kavosh city
The director of Jihad Keshavarzi of Gonbad Kavous city said: Spring rice planting started in Haji Balkhan village of Gonbad Kavous by transferring seedlings from the treasury to the rice field.
Engineer Shiraleh Saberi, pointing out that the level of rice cultivation contract with Gonbad farmers has increased by 14.5 percent this year compared to the previous year, added: This year, 12,600 hectares of water farms in Gonbad city will be allocated for rice cultivation And this is while in 1983, 11 thousand and 15 hectares of farms in this city were paddy.
According to him, increasing the production efficiency of the crop per unit area and increasing the price of paddy compared to other crops and the short planting to harvest time are the reasons for increasing the area under paddy cultivation in Gonbad city.
Saber stated: In the agricultural lands of Gonbad city, high-yielding cultivars of rice including Fajr, Neda, Nemat and Shafaq are cultivated, which cultivate an average of 4.5 to 5 tons per hectare, and low-yield cultivars including Tarom Damsiah and Tarom Dabari are cultivated. An average of 3.5 to four tons of crop is harvested from each hectare.
It is worth mentioning that in Gonbad Kavous city, 22 thousand people are active in the agricultural sector and last year, Gonbad farmers harvested 39,250 tons of rice.
