Baslouq is a kind of confectionery and souvenir produced by Maragheh, Malayer and Arak. To make this confectionery, use a mash (grape juice), starch, almond or sweet apricot kernel and spice.
Baslouq in Maragheh is usually prepared in mid-December to be ready for New Year’s Eve. The Baslouq preparation process, which takes about three months, is as follows:
Almonds or apricots kernels are soaked in boiling water that is peeled off, then cut into special yarns and hung to dry.
Boil the shower until a third of it evaporates and mix it with starch. Stay about a month. After a month, they lower the baslouqs into wooden boxes and place the boxes in a soft, moist place to bring sugar and ready to use.
