The area of peanut cultivation in Minoodasht city increased by 95%
The head of the service center of the central part of Jihad Keshavarzi of Minoodasht city said: The use of peanuts started from 800 hectares of water and rainfed lands of this city.
Engineer Seyed Hassan Hosseini added: Peanuts are mainly grown in the central part of Minoodasht, where the average production per unit area of irrigated farms is 2.5 to 3.6 tons and in rainfed farms is projected at 1.5 to two tons per hectare.
He added: The area under cultivation of this crop in the current crop year in Minoodasht city was 800 hectares, which includes 350 hectares of irrigated and 450 hectares of rainfed area. It has increased by 95 percent.
Hosseini continued: It is predicted that about 1,500 tons of peanut farms in Minoodasht city will be exploited this year.
Peanuts are mainly used for nuts and are mostly exported to neighboring provinces, he added.
The official in charge of the most important peanut pest in Minoodasht city called it a slow pest and said: This pest causes more damage to rain-fed crops in years with less rainfall and drought.
