The area under onion cultivation in Yazd province will reach 450 hectares

Director of Agriculture of Yazd Jihad Agricultural Organization, referring to the increase in onion prices, ‌ stated: The area under cultivation of this crop in the province will reach 450 hectares with a significant increase compared to last year.
Kazem Farahmand, referring to the fact that onion are grown twice a year in Yazd province, stated: Spring sowing is done in March and autumn sowing is done in October, and the harvest time is in November and May.
He added: Onion are cultivated in most cities of the province and Abarkooh, Mehriz and Ardakan cities have the highest area under cultivation.
The director of agriculture of Jihad-e-Agriculture Organization of Yazd province stated: onion yield is about 55 tons per hectare and the production of this product for next year is predicted to be 25 thousand tons.
Kazem Farahmand, stating that the observance of technical principles and timely and appropriate cultivation has increased onion yield in the province compared to the national average, clarified: Yazd province in terms of production and area under onion cultivation is ranked 17th in the country.
In the end, the director of agriculture of Jihad-e-Agriculture Organization stated that onion are bought at a guaranteed price, and specified: By providing suitable grounds for export and conversion industries in the province, Yazd can have a prominent position in the field of onion production in the country.
