The art of woodcarving in Boroujerd
We went to Mr. Nourin, an artist from Boroujerd who works in the field of woodcarving, to get more information about this art and to ask him about how to make these tools.
Mr. Nourin said about his work experience: I have learned woodcarving since I was a child with my father and I have continued my work to this day due to my great interest in creating works with wood.
The root of the word inlay
The root of the word inlaid is derived from the word candy and means sprouted because it was the protrusion of flowers and plants on wood, stone, and like the growth of a plant on it.
The art of carving, in which engraving and carving on wood is done, is one of the old arts of the people of Lorestan.
The raw materials for woodcarving are different types of wood. The stronger and more compact the wood, the better, more beautiful and durable the woodwork, such as walnut, boxwood and pear wood.
First, the desired design is drawn and engraved on wood, and then it is highlighted and volumetric.
Teach young people to create works using the art of woodcarving
Mr. Nourin has set up a training workshop for young people and adolescents in Boroujerd, with the aim of keeping art classes alive among young people.
Referring to the job creation of this art, he said: I train more than 30 people in this workshop every year and a number of trainees who have been trained here are working in this profession in the same market of Boroujerd.
Regarding the time required to train people, Mr. Nourin said: It takes 5 to 6 months for an intern to enter the school to sell their handmade products to the market and earn money in this way.
Noting that in addition to teaching this art to the new generation, Mr. Nourin has been able to export his products, he said. We export.
Choupani, an expert on handicrafts in Lorestan province, said: Lorestani artists have been shown in woodworking competitions with 9 stamps, five of which are of UNESCO and international seal quality, and the other four artists have national symbols.
