The beginning of peanut cultivation in Astana city
The director of Astana Ashrafieh Agricultural Jihad said: one of the farmers from the seaside village of Bandar Kiashahr is the first almond grower of Astana who started cultivating this crop in one hectare of his land this year.
Mohammad Baqer Qasempour, pointing out that the cultivation of peanuts starts in this city every year from the end of April, said: 4000 farmers of Astaneh Ashrafieh cultivate almonds in 2507 hectares of their farms and harvest peanuts from the end of August.
The director of Astana-Ashrafieh Agricultural Jihad continued: 3000 people work in the processing and sale of peanuts in Gilan.
Qasempour pointed out: out of about 6000 tons of fresh peanut cocoons in this city, 2.5 tons enter the consumer market in the form of nuts.
Ashrafieh threshold is the first pole of peanut production in Iran due to its fertile lands resulting from the alluvial sediment of Sefidrood River.
Peanuts are also scattered in Talesh, Rudbar and Lasht-e Nasha.
