The beginning of red gold harvest in Koohrang city
Muslim Parvizi, director of Koohrang Agricultural Jihad, said: This year, 10 hectares of saffron were cultivated in this city, and every year about 10% is added to this cultivated area.
He added: The saffron produced in this city is very high quality due to the difference between the day and night temperature and high altitude.
Parvizi added: It is expected that 30 kg of saffron will be harvested from this area.
He continued: The highest area under saffron cultivation is in the Mesopotamian villages of Birganeh, Samsamieh Chelgard and Mehdiabad.
Parvizi said: Every year, the process of saffron cultivation and harvesting is directly supervised and the necessary advice is provided to all saffron growers.
