The head of the plant production department of Minoodasht Jihad-e-Agriculture said: after 5 years of hazelnut cultivation, the harvest of its new crop began from the gardens of this city.

Eskandar Hosseini added: The cultivation of hazelnuts and other fruit trees in the sloping lands of this city has started several years ago.

He added: Those parts of the lands that are not capable of cultivating crops such as wheat or are low-yielding, according to government policies, hazelnut, olive, walnut and other fruit orchards were established in them.

He continued: The plan to change the use of sloping lands in this city has started since 1393, and this year, for the first time after 5 years, hazelnut harvesting from the gardens of this city began.

Hosseini expressed his hope that 250 kilograms of hazelnut orchard would be harvested from each hectare in the first year.

He announced the green area of ??hazelnut orchards in this city as 30 hectares and said: the harvest of this crop will increase in the coming years.

Minoodasht city consists of mountainous, sloping and plain areas and its average annual rainfall is more than 500 mm.

In this city, it is possible to cultivate crops such as wheat and barley, canola, sunflower, soybean, rice and a variety of vegetables and summer crops in the form of rainfed and irrigated.

Also, with the implementation of the plan to change the use of sloping lands, more than 15,000 hectares of olives have been planted in this city so far.
