The date harvest ended in Hormozgan
The head of Hormozgan Jihad-e-Agriculture Organization said: with the end of the date harvest in this province, the production of this product is estimated at about 150,000 tons, which includes different dates.
Alinaghi Salehi, announcing the forecast of harvesting more than 150,000 tons of different types of dates from the province’s orchards, added: The area under palm cultivation in Hormozgan province is 36,000 hectares, of which 41% includes first grade cultivars and 39% second grade cultivars.
The head of Hormozgan Jihad-e-Agriculture Organization added: Every year, the date harvest in Hormozgan is five months, starting from the second half of June with the harvest of early cultivars such as Mehtari and ending in late October with the harvest of Pyarom and Halili cultivars.
Salehi pointed out that the highest area of date cultivation in the province is allocated to Minab city with about 12 thousand and 500 hectares, said: this city with a production of nearly 52 thousand tons and Rudan with a production of 8270 hectares and Hajiabad city with 4187 hectares in the first ranks up to Third are the dates harvested.
More than 10,000 tons of dates have been exported to Central Asia, Malaysia, Russia, the United Arab Emirates and some European countries, he said.
The official said: Last year, the area under cultivation of these date palms was 32,000 hectares with a harvest of 145,000 tons. Due to planting tissue culture seedlings, good pruning, development, improvement of orchard renovation, pruning and cultivation, we are witnessing an increase in area under cultivation and production.
There are more than 40 cultivars of dates in Hormozgan province. Most are cultivated exclusively and exclusively in Hajiabad region and have high quality and export value.
