The difference between wool and acrylic kilims
Woolen kilims
The fibers used in woolen kilims are completely natural and are made from the wool of domestic animals such as sheep wool and goat hair. Once a year, ranchers graze their sheep wool (picking wool is called grazing). To dye wool, it is first washed frequently with water to reach the desired amount of natural wool fat, and then it is prepared for dyeing. Wool fat makes the fibers have a special softness and softness.
Wool dyeing is done both naturally and chemically.
Natural dyeing:
Natural colors include a variety of plant, animal and mineral colors.
As you know, all plants in nature have pigments such as:
Colors derived from plant leaves; Cucumber leaves, chrysanthemum leaves and hair leaves
Colors derived from plant flowers; Asparagus flowers and nightshades taken from the branches and stems of the plant; Plane tree, cherry
Dyes derived from plant roots; Rhubarb roots and apricots taken from the bark of the plant stem; Pomegranate
Dyes derived from the skin of the fruit of the plant; Onion skin, walnut skin, pomegranate skin, hazelnut skin and pistachio skin.
In addition to the plant dyes described above, there are insects called seed red, from which dyes are also made.
Note: They are a type of wool that does not take on color and is used with the same natural color as black, white and camel.
The most commonly used natural colors are:
White color
Green
Orange
زرد
Pea
Today, some other weavers do not spin woolen yarns by hand and do not dye them with natural materials. Such a dead state that they give to kilims, they are dissatisfied with these fibers. Synthetic and chemical dyes, although more attractive, are not equal to natural colors in terms of durability.
Features of woolen kilims
Wool has a therapeutic effect since ancient times. The fiber in wool stimulates the capillary system of the blood and increases the body’s natural strength.
Wool absorbs and retains heat and transfers it to the body, which relaxes the muscles. If you have elderly people in your home, using woolen kilims is very useful.
Walking on woolen kilims without using any cover not only does not create cracks in the heel but also eliminates the created cracks.

Wool kilims can absorb and repel water at the same time.
Wool used in woolen kilims is a biodegradable material that can be used with plants as fertilizer.
Acrylic kilims
Acrylic kilims are products that are made of acrylic fibers. These fibers are one of the newest fibers of machine-made kilim and are considered as the most important and widely used synthetic fibers that are a good alternative to wool.
Features of acrylic kilim:
Heat insulation against sunlight and direct heat
Good strength and tear resistance
Lighter than wool, cotton and polyester fibers
Low moisture absorption
anti allergy
No fluff
High durability
Alluvial resistant
It gets dirty late and on the other hand, these fibers are cleaned sooner in washing
