The head of the National Carpet Center of Iran, while explaining the reasons for the decrease in the export of handmade carpets in recent years, announced the cessation of the downward trend in the export of handmade carpets.
The head of the National Carpet Center of Iran stated: March this year is a happy ending for Iranian carpets and our export figures have grown compared to last year and according to customs statistics in the first 11 months of this year we had 314 million dollars worth of exports, which was equivalent to 12 months last year.
He said: In terms of weight, in the first 11 months of this year, we exported 6,000 tons of carpets, which shows a growth of more than 32% compared to last year, and it can be said that for the first time in recent years, the downward trend in exports has stopped. Experienced.
At the same time, Kargar stressed that this statistic is not satisfactory: in the year of economy and culture, the potential of carpets was not used optimally.
The head of the National Carpet Center of Iran, stating that in recent years various factors have been effective in reducing the export of handmade carpets, said: the replacement of complementary carpets such as carpet and parquet, saturation of important Iranian carpet markets such as Germany and the departure of many weavers This industry was influential in the decline of markets in this sector.
He said that in addition to economic advantages, carpets also have cultural advantages, adding: All raw materials for carpets are supplied in the country and there is knowledge and technical skills in the country, and with the least capital, jobs can be created in this field.
Registration of geographical brands of 10 carpet weaving regions in the World Intellectual Property Organization
Kargar said in part: Another positive event that happened in the last days of the year for the field of carpets is the registration of the geographical brand of 10 carpet weaving regions in the World Intellectual Property Organization, because one of the concerns of our carpet activists is the hand of rival countries in producing carpets. The head of the National Carpet Center of Iran, stating that the global registration of the geographical regions of the country can act as a deterrent and protect the Iranian carpet brand beforehand, reminded: carpets of 10 regions of Iran, including Mashhad, Kashmar, Kashan, Kerman, Nain, Sarough, Yazd, Ardabil, Turkmen, Golestan and Hamedan were registered in the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
According to him, last year, five geographical regions of the country’s carpet weaving were registered globally, and the national and global registration stages of 12 other regions will be followed next year.
