A member of the presidium of the National Saffron Council stated that there are no more than three months left until the harvest of the new saffron crop and that a large amount of saffron is still in the hands of farmers and in their warehouses. The cost of exporting it is staggering.

Ali Hosseini, stating that the published news about the increase or decrease in the price of saffron is not real and is a psychological atmosphere, said: Due to the unprofessional talk of some people, the market became inflamed for a few days, but returned to its former state. In fact, it should be said that the acceleration of the market boom depends on exports, and when exports are slow and do not have the necessary acceleration, one can not expect a market boom.

He continued: “How much the price of saffron will be in the future is not predictable and according to the economic conditions of the country, the region and also the target countries, we must be compatible with the conditions to pass this stage.” What is certain is that the target markets of Iranian saffron are experiencing a relative recession.

A member of the presidium of the National Saffron Council, stating that the current price of saffron is between 6 and 11 million Tomans, said: the price of saffron has not changed much compared to last year and has even decreased compared to the last two years.

Pointing out that the pricing of consumer and producer rights should be seen at the same time, he said: the price of saffron should not be so cheap that the producer is not economically viable for it and also should not be so expensive that the market is lost.

According to him, agricultural inputs such as fertilizers, pesticides, etc. should be provided to farmers at a reasonable price so that the cost of products does not rise.

In the end, Hosseini said that exports are not in a good condition, adding that exports are slow and the cost of exports is staggering. On the other hand, there are not more than three months until the harvest of the new saffron crop, and there is still a large amount of saffron left in the hands of farmers and in their warehouses, and all these factors can harm farmers.
