The export of Zanjan Iranian handwoven carpets is not in a good condition
Mohsen Jafari, referring to the situation of the carpet market in Zanjan province, said: The situation of the carpet market in the second half of 2019 has worsened.
He clarified about the increase in the price of raw materials for carpets in Zanjan province: the main raw materials for carpets are imported and the price of raw materials has increased based on the price of the dollar.
The head of the carpet department of Samat Organization of Zanjan province, pointing out that at present the silk price of hand-woven carpets is about one million Tomans and the quality of high quality carpets is one million and 150 thousand Tomans, said: This has also affected the rise in prices.
He stressed that the cost of silk carpets has increased: “Due to the current inflation, prices have risen and this has caused the carpet market to stagnate.”
Jafari pointed out that the inflation that occurs every year in Iran harms the carpet market: “Increasing inflation has a negative effect on carpet exports and disrupts exports.”
The head of the carpet department of the Samat Organization of Zanjan Province emphasized that our trade relations are tied to political issues and also the issue of imposing sanctions has affected exports, adding: “Currently, carpet exports have been overshadowed.”
He stressed that the wage of carpet weavers has not been raised based on higher inflation, which has also reduced the motivation of carpet weavers: “Economic activities are subject to supply and demand, and if there is demand, supply will also occur.”
