The director of Jihad Agriculture of Rasht city said: 11% of the country’s rice is produced in Rasht.

Vahid Mahdavi, stating that Rasht city with 64,250 hectares of paddy lands is the largest rice-rich city in the country, said: Golden clusters of golden rice stalks have been reported in 80% of Rasht paddy fields.

He added: rice has been harvested on a case-by-case basis in the villages of this city, and the first replanting of rice in Rasht city was done today.

He continued: The first replanting of rice in Falakadeh village was done by Yadollah Rashidi.

We encourage farmers to grow rattan after the rice harvest, because it also costs less to produce, Mahdavi said.

The director of Jihad Keshavarzi of Rasht city stated: due to the reduction of rice pest, this year we will see a quantitative and qualitative improvement of rice in Rasht city and we hope we will not face rain or dormancy of the stems.

He pointed out: Rasht city produces an average of 173 thousand tons of white rice, also 28% of Gilan rice and 11% of the country’s rice is produced in Rasht city.

He added: it is predicted that more than 290 thousand tons of paddy will be produced in the largest rice-rich city of the country this year.
