Saffron is an export product and depends on the currency, but despite the fact that the exchange rate of foreign currencies has multiplied in recent months, said Mohammad Dwar, a farmer in Bonab Marand and owner of a 1.5-hectare saffron farm. The price of this product has not even increased 1.5 times.

He adds: If these conditions continue, due to rising costs, saffron production will not be economically viable, and even now some farmers in Khorasan are complaining about this problem and are changing their land from saffron to wheat.

He notes: We expect the officials to think about the price of saffron on a large scale, because with the increase in costs and the stability of the price of saffron, it does not cost us at all to cultivate this product.

Regarding the market for selling saffron in the country, Davar states: Part of the product is bought by regular customers in retail, the rest we take to Mashhad ourselves and sell in bulk.

Regarding the quality of saffron in this region, he continues: I had heard that the quality of Marand saffron is very high, to prove this, I sent a sample of my farm saffron to Shahid Beheshti University to prove scientifically that the quality of saffron in Azerbaijan How much better it can be.

He, who does not use any kind of fertilizer and poison in his farm and produces organic products, says: After four times of product analysis, the result was higher than expected, so that the aroma, color and taste of Marand saffron are very high. It is even 30% more than the best saffron of Ghaenat.

The farmer adds: In Bonab city, there is no registered saffron brand and usually the product is packaged and sold by hand.
