Najafi stated that the taste of Gilan original rice has been preserved in the new Gilaneh rice cultivar, and specified: Increasing the quantity and quality and preserving the taste of Gilani original rice are three important components that are emphasized in Gilaneh rice.
The governor of Gilan also stressed the need for comprehensive production of this cultivar of rice and reminded: the salient features of this cultivar are dwarfism, early ripening and very good cooking quality as local Iranian cultivars with higher yields than local cultivars.

He said that the salient features of this cultivar, according to farmers, lack of dormancy, early maturity and good cooking quality, are similar to local cultivars. One of our successes this year is the production of about 15 tons of mother seed of Gilane cultivar for the first time, he said. According to the process of welcoming farmers, it will be possible to produce certified seeds for cultivation of about 2000 hectares of land in Gilan province.
