Thyme contains thymol and carvacrol
A faculty member of Lorestan Research, Natural Resources and Agriculture Center said: Thyme has compounds such as thymol and carvacrol.
Dr. Karim Khademi stated: The main chemical compounds in thyme essential oil are thymol and carvacrol.
He continued: Therefore, thyme is valuable and widely used in the pharmaceutical and food industries due to having these two combinations of medicinal plants.
Khademi added: Thyme is used all over the world due to its fragrance and medicinal properties, so that the commercial value of thymus species is due to its essential oils, oleoresins and canopy, leaf length and leaf width.
This faculty member of Lorestan Research, Natural Resources and Agriculture Center added: The harvest time of thyme has a significant effect on the fresh weight and dry vegetative body of thyme, so that the highest fresh weight and dry weight of vegetative body is obtained from full flowering stage and fruit formation stage. .
Regarding the effect of altitude and physical and chemical properties of soil on the active ingredients of a species of thyme in Lorestan natural habitats, he said: With increasing altitude, the percentage of compounds such as carvacrol and thymol in thyme essential oil will increase significantly.
Khademi added: Also, some physical and chemical properties of the soil of the studied habitats have a significant correlation with the existing essential oil compounds.
