Types of cashmere
Cashmere fabric in Iran has a long history. In ancient times, cashmere was woven like a carpet by hand. It has an identity card that weaves the name of the weaving factory and its weaving year on it. Iranians have been using cashmere for a very long time for very important traditions. The cashmere is very original and old. In short, Iranians have a special value for cashmere fabric and today in the whole world, cashmere Iran is known as the most popular European cashmere fabric. The types of cashmere are divided into two categories Iranian and Kashmiri, as follows:
1- Chehreqdi scarf: its size is 1.5 x 1.5 and it is used for scarves or brooches, which have a common bergamot elasticity and a flowery type.
2- Striped scarf: which is of two types:
A) Wide striped shawl
B) Narrow striped scarf
Each has its own type of consumption to suit people’s tastes in their use.
3- Atabaki scarf: It is of Kashmiri type and is woven from very soft wool.
4 – Shawl: Its map is like a beehive and inside each house a flower or an idol is eaten
5- Muharram shawl: It is called a kind of striped shawl whose width is different.
6- Kashmiri shawl: It is called a variety of Kashmir weaving shawls, the most famous of which are the map of Jaqeh, the deer antler map and the tree map.
7- Emerald shawl: It is the highest type of Kashmiri shawl that has a blue background with a map of idols and very vivid colors, especially emerald green.
8- Kerman scarf: It is called all Kerman woven shawls and has different types.
9- Amiri shawl: As its name suggests, it is one of the types of courtyards and the top of Kashmiri shawls. Generally, the role of idol and its deer antler has been seen.
10- Yazdi shawl: Yazdi cashmere is called weaving cashmere in Yazd region, which is mostly either striped or Shah Abbasi’s flowers that are old and rare.
One of the important tasks of the cashmere weaver is to choose the color and match them, which can be chosen either by matching colors and with harmony, or even by choosing a contrasting color in a certain form, there may be a kind of homogeneity and beauty. This is a mystery in Iranian cashmere art.
Applying cashmere in the past and present
In the past, cashmere has had various and varied uses, including: sewing luxurious, aristocratic clothes, curtains, veils, khalati, and so on. Today, cashmere is also used as a fabric for furniture, backs, tablecloths and so on. In the past, cashmere consumers were mostly nobles, nobles, and kings, and nowadays most of the middle and upper classes of society present it to each other as gifts at weddings and official and family celebrations and ceremonies.
