Types of Iranian handmade carpets in terms of materials used in carpets:
The following 5 groups are classified:
1- Woolen carpet: A carpet whose taropod is made of cotton and its lint is called woolen carpet. It should be noted that wool is used among tribes and nomads instead of cotton yarn.
2- All-silk carpet: Carpets that are made of silk are called all-silk.
3- Silk flower carpet: In such carpets, silk lint is used instead of woolen lint in the patterns and around the edges. And usually such carpets are made of silk.
4- Silk floor carpet: In the field of such carpets, instead of woolen lint, silk lint is used.
5- Soph carpet: It is a kind of carpet whose background is made of thick and thin fabric And the role of flowering plants is hairy.
Types of handmade carpets in terms of dimensions:
Handmade carpets are divided into 7 categories in terms of size, the types of which are:
1- Carpets: Carpets that are in the dimensions of 3 × 2 meters, 3.5 × 2.5 meters, 4 × 3 meters and 4 × 6 meters, which are divided into the following 4 categories:
A) Small carpets that include dimensions of 3 × 2 m and 3.5 × 2.3 m.
B) Medium-sized carpets that include dimensions of 4 × 3 m and 2.8 × 3.8 m.
C) Large carpets that include dimensions of 3.5 × 4.5 and 3.7 × 4.8 meters.
D) Very large carpets with dimensions of 5 × 4 and 6 × 4 and above include these dimensions.
2- Rug: It is called carpets that have an area of less than 4 square meters;
Conventional Rugs range in size from 2.20 × 1.40 and 2.5 × 1.5.
Rugs with dimensions of 2.20 × 1.40 are called rugs or double-sided.
It should also be noted that Rugs with dimensions of 2.5 × 1.5 that are fine-textured,

3- kallegi: They are called carpets that are less than the width of the carpet in terms of width and less than 4 meters in length. They are found in sizes 3 × 1.5 m, 3 × 1.7 m and 2 × 3.7 m.
4- Side: It is a carpet that is used to sell corridors and stairs And its width is 1.7 to 0.5 meters and their length varies from 10 to 3 meters And in some exceptional cases it is woven up to 15 meters and more.
5- Zara and Nim and Zare and Charak: Carpets with dimensions of 1.5 × 1.04 and 1.6 × 1.1 meters are called Zare and Nim. Also, carpets that are 1.3 x 0.8 meters are referred to as Zar and Charak.
6- The carpet under the door: A small rug that is woven as big as the foot of the door is called the carpet under the door.
