Unveiling of Iran’s largest handmade carpet
The Tabriz International Carpet Exhibition was opened in the presence of the President and the accompanying delegation this afternoon in the Amirkabir Hall of the Tabriz International Fair.
Habib Mahouti, director of the Tabriz International Exhibition, said: The Tabriz International Carpet Exhibition will be held from 11 to 13 August at the Tabriz International Exhibition and those interested can visit this exhibition from 10:00 to 22:00.
He added: This exhibition has been organized by the governor’s office in cooperation with the Industry, Mining and Trade Organization and the Chamber of Commerce, the National Carpet Center of Iran.
Mahouti added: This exhibition will be held in an area of 10,000 square meters and in 46 booths, and the provinces of Isfahan, Gilan, Qom, Tehran, East Azerbaijan and West Azerbaijan will exhibit their works and products in this exhibition.”
The director of Tabriz International Exhibition said: In this exhibition, two 600 and 400 meter carpets woven by Tabriz artists will be exposed to the eyes of those interested for the first time.
The carpet is one of four large carpets created in a carpet weaving workshop. The investor of this project, Ahad Azimzadeh, 7 years ago ordered the weaving of 4 large carpets from one of the workshops in Tabriz. 2 of these carpets are 600 square meters each and 2 boards are 400 square meters each.
Ahad Azimzadeh, an entrepreneur and founder of Azimzadeh Carpet, told reporters: “In all the famous museums of the world, it is the Iranian carpet that is showing off, not the carpets of China, India and Pakistan.” It is our responsibility to present our ancient and beautiful ancestral industry to the people of the world in all countries by diversifying the quantity and quality of Iranian handmade carpets.
Instead of transferring their capital abroad, the carpet businessman called on Iranian entrepreneurs to invest in Iran to make Iran more prosperous and powerful.
According to him, this carpet is fundamentally different from the large carpet that was prepared in one of the provinces. That large rug consisted of hundreds of small rugs sewn together on the floor. While each of these 4 carpets is woven in one piece or in one piece on a very large carpet by skilled and knowledgeable carpet weavers in two shifts in 7 years.
The CEO of Azimzadeh Holding, pointing out that before weaving this carpet, the carpet was not woven above 100 meters in Tabriz, said: The weaving of these carpets by 230 artists and weavers of East Azerbaijan province in 2 shifts and during 7 The year is done. He added: “If these carpets were to be produced in one shift, it would take another seven years for them to be completed.” The 600-meter carpet unveiled at the exhibition is woven in 60 rows and weighs 70 colors and three tons. The bulk of the yarn used in this rug is silk.
Azimzadeh concluded by noting that a new plan has been proposed for another handicraft in Sardar, the details of which will be announced in the future.
Until now, the largest hand-woven carpet in the world, which was the result of the efforts of Iranian weavers, is a carpet that is located in the Great Mosque of Sheikh Zayed in Abu Dhabi and is 563 square meters.
