Walnut harvest began in North Khorasan

The horticultural director of the North Khorasan Jihad-e-Agriculture Organization announced the beginning of the walnut harvest from the orchards of this province.
Haidar Namvar added: This province has 2,300 hectares of walnut orchards, of which 1,670 hectares are fertile.
He predicted: 800 tons of walnuts will be harvested from the orchards of the province this year.
Namvar said that due to the cold damage to walnut orchards this year, it is expected that only 20% of walnut production last year would be harvested. 80% of walnut orchards in this province have suffered frost and damage this year, he said.
He also referred to the beginning of almond harvest in the province and said: the spring cold had caused up to 80% damage to the almond orchards in the region.
