Walnut production increased by 30% in North Khorasan
With the end of the walnut harvest in North Khorasan, the production of this crop increased by 30% compared to last year.
Engineer Alireza Basiri, Technical and Executive Deputy of North Khorasan Jihad Agricultural Organization, mentioned the reason for the increase in walnut production was the lack of late spring cold and also the implementation of a project to improve and rehabilitate second grade orchards in the walnut areas of the province.
Basiri mentioned the province’s walnut production as 4,538 tons this year and added: This amount has been harvested from 1,304 hectares of the province’s orchards.
He pointed out: out of the total amount of walnut production in the province, 50% of the product is consumed in the province and the rest is exported outside the province.
Basiri mentioned the production value of the dry product, including 22,000 Rials per kilogram of skin.
